customer reviews
My wife asked me to help her search for a new camera. Before the SX50
HS we tried the Nikon P510, the Fujifilm HS30EXR, the Panasonic FZ200,
and the Canon SX40 HS. The others are all nice cameras, but overall,
for the money, features, picture quality, and ergonomics, the prize went
to the SX50 HS.
I was concerned about the slower lense speed of
the SX50 HS, but in repeated test pics taken with all five cameras, this
unit provided pics as good or better than the rest.
Granted, the
manual zoom on the HS30EXR is really nice and the F2.8 aperature
capability across the entire zoom range on the FZ200 will be an
advantage in certain low-light situations, but we haven't encountered
any situation in a month's worth of testing that we couldn't get a great
picture with the SX50 HS. And while I think all five cameras give nice
pictures in most of the scenarios we shoot in, when comparing pics, we
found the image quality from the SX50 HS to be better across the
board--especially when cropping and enlarging.
I'm not putting
any of the other cameras down--any one of them will serve a broad range
of customers very well. We just think that across the board, the SX50
HS is the best for our needs.
