PowerShot A2300 I wanted a small, cheap camera that I can use to capture some quick photos and this little thing did the trick A2300. I wish that the autoflash worked better Canon A2300, but I guess there's no light sensor on the camera so it can't really detect how much light is in the room. I don't really mind turning on or off flash as needed though. For the price it works great. Photos are sharp (definitely better than the photos my Lg Optimus G took) and its easy to use and figure out all the functions A2300. Recommended for those who just want a small nifty camera they can bring around and capture a quick moment with Canon PowerShot A2300

I recently updated my DSLR collection to the Nikon D3100 from the Nikon D70. There are good reviews out there that you should check out. However, I would like to share some of my first impressions.

Pro:
-Better image quality and lower noise at high ISO with the D3100
-MUCH MUCH lighter, which will be nice when traveling
-Larger LCD screen
-11 focus points, including 3D focus which tracks the motion of the subject or camera.
-1080p Video
-14 megapixels
-2nd Generation DSLR
-Quiet, quiet, quiet

Cons:
-No bracketing option. Not a huge deal since I only bracket once a year
-Cannot use my old 50mm 1.8 lens. I knew this before purchasing the camera.
-As of 10/1/2010, Camera RAW for the D3100 is not supported in Photoshop or Lightroom. Need to shoot .jpg + RAW or use Nikon Capture NX2 for RAW files. That should be updated soon, so not a big deal.
-Can hear the lens focusing when recording video.
-No depth of field preview.
-Can't use wireless remote

I'm an amateur photographer and this camera meets my needs. I love the fact that it's small and light, with great quality images. If I were a serious photographer and had more money to spare, I would wait and check out the D7000, which appears to have phenomenal specs. I'm happy with my purchase and I highly recommend this camera

I've only had this a few days, so i'd like to come back in 6 months and update, but so far I really am liking this camera. The video is amazing at 1080p60... I have an older High Def camcorder (Canon HV10) and this video trumps that easily. Even indoors the video is crystal clear. I haven't taken many pictures, but indoor shots seem to come out great (compared to my older camera). Macro shots looks very good. The lens is super fast. Focuses so much faster then my old camera and snaps of shots so quick..no waiting around anymore! The camera seems to be mostly metal, which i like...and has a nice little rubber grip...It really feels like a high quality piece of equipment. Obviously nothing is perfect, but so far I like what Im seeing...for the price (and i researched a ton of cameras...and wanted to RX100---but too much in the end) its an awesome deal.

My wife asked me to help her search for a new camera. Before the SX50 HS we tried the Nikon P510, the Fujifilm HS30EXR, the Panasonic FZ200, and the Canon SX40 HS. The others are all nice cameras, but overall, for the money, features, picture quality, and ergonomics, the prize went to the SX50 HS.

I was concerned about the slower lense speed of the SX50 HS, but in repeated test pics taken with all five cameras, this unit provided pics as good or better than the rest.

Granted, the manual zoom on the HS30EXR is really nice and the F2.8 aperature capability across the entire zoom range on the FZ200 will be an advantage in certain low-light situations, but we haven't encountered any situation in a month's worth of testing that we couldn't get a great picture with the SX50 HS. And while I think all five cameras give nice pictures in most of the scenarios we shoot in, when comparing pics, we found the image quality from the SX50 HS to be better across the board--especially when cropping and enlarging.

I'm not putting any of the other cameras down--any one of them will serve a broad range of customers very well. We just think that across the board, the SX50 HS is the best for our needs.

I love photography but i never had a camera of my own..i decided to get one and my initial preferences were cannon and nikon..
I went to best buy to check out the cameras ..tried a few cannons and nikon's. The ones which i liked were way too expensive and those which were in my budget were not up to my expectations..then i happened to stop by the Sony DSC- HX200V. when i checked it out i told myself this is the camera i'm gonna get. Clarity , quick focus and magnificent zoom were buttering me to get it as soon as possible.I decided to get it but then i thought of just comparing the price with amazon and i was glad to know that amazon is selling it at 70$ less then best buy..i ordered it the same day and i received it in just 2 days..
i have been using it since last one month and i m in love with it..
I am more then happy to have Sony DSC- HX200V as my first camera..

I've owned a number of 'point & shoot' shirt pocket cameras, but this Panasonic is by far the best...not only from what I've had, but from what I've seen. From my point of view the Lumix ZS20 has many major plus features. The 20X optical zoom is phenominal, particularly with the image stabilization at full zoom. There's not a hint of camera shake. The GPS image tag is very useful when you can't recall exactly where the pic was taken. You should be aware that battery life is shortened when the GPS function is turned on. The camera is capable of taking full 1080P movies with stereo sound. I recently put this to the test while on a storm watching trip to the west coast of Canada. The movies taken of the huge waves crashing against shoreline rocks were nothing less than spectacular and the sound was equally impressive. One of the things I like the best with this camera is the ability to take hi res still pictures in widescreen format. We're all used to seeing movies is widescreen, so why not still pictures as well. Looking at your still shots in widescreen is very impressive indeed. The camera's ability to take stills in 3D is also excellent...much better than I would have thought. This feature is very nice to have if you have a 3D TV. And you can also view your 3D shots in normal 2D if you don't yet have a 3D TV. The camera has a mini HDMI port which can be used to connect it to one of the HDMI ports on your TV or AV receiver to allow you to view your pictures and movies on the big screen. I have a Panasonic large screen 3D TV and as soon as I connected the camera to it, the camera and TV recognized each other and set things up for viewing pictures. And this also allows you to control the TV AND camera using the TV's remote control...how cool is that!

After all is said and done, I would say that the Lumix ZS20 is one of the best bangs for the bucks currently on the market and I would have given it a 6 star rating if I could.

Being a happy user of Nikon dSLR's and also my camera of choice for most stuff, there are still certain benefits in a good compact. My last compact being an olympus, which was a very disappointing experience. All the nikons I have owned in the past have always had a good build quality so that's what swung it for this one. When I purchased this camera it was brand new to the market so there was limited reviews but mostly positive. The Lumix zs20 nearly got my money as it is also a fantastic compact with similar spec but i'm a sucker for the nikon brand so I took the plunge. First impressions were that it is smaller then I expected, which is a good thing to me as that is the point of a compact right. The build quality seems good as do the ergonomics. Have taken a few hundred shots with it and am very impressed. Low light shots are particularly good with very low noise. The 18 x zoom is silent, quick and very smooth with decent optics, my only complaint being that at the maximum reaches and the camera being so small it is hard to hold steady enough for a sharp image but that is probably the issue on any small camera with a long lens. Great glove box or travel camera that can be recharged from anything with a USB. Very pleased with it so far.
